When the Romans conquered the Gauls, the Gauls started changing their culture (at different rates and in different places). I can think of cases of people trying to change their culture, but what usually happens is that after a hundred years or so they haven't gone from what they were to what they were trying to go to, but usually end up creating a hybrid that is something else. I'm not sure that culture is something that changes all that easily, at least not by fiat and within a single generation.
